The Spanish football season kicks off this weekend with the Supercopa game, featuring league winners FC Barcelona against winners of the Copa del Rey, Real Madrid. The first leg of the Supercopa will take place this Sunday 14th August at the Santiago Bernabéu stadium. Last minute tickets start from 130€ and can be found here. The second leg of the cup will be played the Wednesday after at Nou Camp in Barcelona.

Mutua Madrileña Tennis Open 2011
Once again some of the greatest names on the tennis circuit will be in Madrid over the next week or so for this year's Mutual Madrileña Open 2011. The event is one of the most important fixtures in the tennis calendar, and with the likes of Andy Murray and Rafael Nadal present in the men's competition, and Kim Clijsters, the Williams sisters, and Caroline Wozniakci in the women's draw, it promises to be a very exciting tornament. If you are interested in going to see the matches, you can get tickets from their website. Prices seem to start from 17€, although the bigger matches and best seats are more expensive. Saturday 30th April and Sunday 1st May are family days and kids can get in for free. The competition is held at the Caja Mágica, located to the south of the city- you can reach it from San Fermín-Orcasur metro (L3).

Real Madrid v Barcelona- El Clásico 16/4
Tomorrow is one of the most anticipated games in the Spanish football calendar, the clásico Real Madrid and Barcelona at the Bernabéu Stadium, and Madrid will certainly be looking for revenge after a humiliating 5-0 defeat at Nou Camp earlier on in the season. If you want to go to the match, it sold out ages ago, then again you can always take a risk with a ticket tout if you are willing to pay through the nose. However it should be no problem finding bars showing the game on TV, but arrive early to get a space as they will be rammed full. The game kicks off at 10pm.
