Madrid creates "Legacy Cities" for the promotion and protection of El Escorial, Aranjuez and Alcalá de Henares
Madrid boosts tourism of San Lorenzo de El Escorial, Aranjuez and Alcalá de Henares consolidating the promotion and protection of these historical sites
The Community of Madrid has created the brand "Legacy Cities" to promote the three Unesco heritage sites of San Lorenzo de El Escorial, Aranjuez and Alcalá de Henares
A “passport” will be offered to visitors allowing for a reduction in the entry fee to monuments, discounts in shops and travel
The passport 'Legacy Cities'
The “Cities Legacy passport” will allow for special prices at museums and monuments, as well as at 157 commercial establishments, restaurants and hotels adhered to the program in the three municipalities with discounts from 5 to 10%. Renfe and the Madrid travel Consortium have also joined the initiative.
The “passport” will be sold both at the three Heritage site cities and at the office of Tourism of the City of Madrid, located in the Plaza Mayor.
The Royal Site of San Lorenzo de El Escorial became Unesco World Heritage in 1984. The city of Alcalá de Henares was declared a World Heritage site in 1998 and is home to Cervantes. Aranjuez Cultural was declared a World Heritage Unesco in 2001 whose Royal Palace and historical gardens are
unique.

Strawberry Train between Madrid and Aranjuez
The Strawberry Train “Tren de la Fresa” between Madrid and Aranjuez season begins
As of May 11 until June 30, the Strawberry train will be running every Saturday and Sunday between Madrid and Aranjuez. And then again from September 7 to October 27.
The train departs from the Museo del Ferrocarril de Madrid at Paseo de Delicias 61 at 10 am, arriving 50 minutes later and the return journey departs from Aranjuez at 6:25 in the evening. The ticket includes a guided visit to Aranjuez's gardens and Royal Palace, and the passengers are invited to enjoy the world famous Aranjuez strawberries en route.
