This year the fair was really great. Contines until Sunday 22 January and is open for the general punlic at the weekend.

MUF at the Madrid stand at FITUR 2012

We were at FITUR this year and as usual it is getting better and better! This is an obligatory international tourism trade fair. Here is a video post of the Madrid stand. They were presenting the collaboration between New York and Madrid. We will have some video with Gabriel Escarrer from Meliá, Gabriel Escarrer, CEO Melia Hotels International, Carlos Abellá, General Manager Sales and Marketing Paradores Hotels and
Ernesto Orillac, Vice Minister of Tourism of the Republic of Panamá.

Non profesionals can visit FITUR on Saturday and Sunday. There are lots of traditional events planneed by the different stands.

Fitur International Tourism Fair celebrates its 32nd edition from 18 to 22 January 2012.

Fitur is the worldwide meeting place for of tourism professionals to define the future, create strategies and alliances for innovation to meet changing the market demands in tourism. Fitur is also a great visit for experienced or first time travellers. Four days in Madrid where everyone interested in travel and tourism will be.

Last year confirmed the recovery trend of the tourism industry, 10,434 exhibitors from 166 countries / regions and 209,260 visitors, professional and public, met in FITUR to potentiate the business and leisure business development for destinations hosting millions of travelers. 7726 journalists from 59 countries came to cover the event, which goes to show the consolidation of FITUR is a top destinations in the international circuit of travel trade fairs.

Transport to FITUR

If you are coming to FITUR, the organisers will be putting on special bus services to transport conference goers to the IFEMA site. There are a number of lines and you can see details of the bus service here. The IFEMA can also be reached by metro. The nearest metro station is Campo de las Naciones on line 8, just a stop or two from the airport.
