Every year on World Book Day, 27th April, the city of Madrid offers a day of cultural events relating to books. This year is the sixth time the initiative is running, and there are plenty of activites on offer across many locations in the city for both adults and kids.
- Around 130 bookshops in the city and surrounding region will be holding special World Book Day events including debates, talks, book signings and worshops. There will also be a 10% discount in many book stores.
- The region's libraries wil be running plenty of activities for both adults and kids, including storytelling, poetry recitals, concerts, magic shows and meeting with authors.
- In many of the city's cultural spaces there will be special events taking place. The Casa Encendida, for example is holding Night of the Mutant Books, where you can come along and make a fanzine. Also in the Barrio de las Letras (an area famous for writers), there will be other activities and surprises.
